Dr Patrick Jones
Dr Patrick Jones is founder and teacher at the not for profit Clear Mind Open Heart Ltd. His work focuses on leading people to awakening to their true nature of inner well-being. Patrick was a clinical psychologist for twenty years and a mindfulness teacher for the 10 years before moving to public speaking and academia to bring psychology and the enlightenment practices into the mainstream.
Patrick has presented at state, national and international conferences in psychology and health and has also been a spiritual director for both eastern ashrams and western monasteries.
Patrick was an honorary research associate at Murdoch University, an occasional university lecturer and recent relevant publications include Mindfulness-Based Heroism: Creating Enlightened Heroes (International Journal of Humanistic Psychology) and Mindfulness Training: Can it Create Superheroes? (Frontiers in Psychology). Through his clinical work and research Patrick also developed a quality of life and well-being program (Mindfulness-based Quality of Life and Well-Being Program) which has been used by thousands of people and its findings have been presented at conferences around Australia and internationally.
His PhD was on Quality of Life and Well-Being, and included an inquiry into its causes and conditions, and the development of a questionnaire, mindfulness intervention, and critique of the existing paradigm. Through his public teaching and one-on-one work work with students at Clear Mind Open Heart Patrick’s focus is to lead people along the path to inner well-being, happiness and spiritual enlightenment. Sian began meditating in 2000 learning from Western Buddhists including Insight Meditation Society teachers. She met Jon Kabat Zinn in 2006 and has completed MBSR (Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction) and MBCT (Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy) programs. Having used mindfulness in her daily life, she has a wealth of practical application experience to share with students.
Sian supports the core teachings by leading meditation days and delivering mindfulness workshops. Her particular focus is on the integration of mindfulness into modern daily life. Sian has been working with Dr Patrick Jones since 2007 and has delivered the Mindfulness-based Quality of Life and Well-Being Program. From 2008–2010 she managed the Banjup Sanctuary Retreat House, leading meditation days and during 2012–2014 was house manager and student program assistant at the Sivananda Ashram.
Along with her work at Clear Mind Open Heart, Sian has taught in schools, catered for yoga retreats and teaches swimming both in the pool and the ocean.
